Couple Big Results here's a recap

tayke2 On 11:15 AM

Ok so on Sunday I decided to try to play alot of poker it had been a long time since I had played on Sunday and all the big tourneys are on that day. I dropped about 50 bucks trying to satellite into the 750k and just gave up after a while. Played the double deuce with no result and played a couple other tournaments with nothing. After w while i registered for the 5 buck with rebuys on a whim. The main reason I decided to register for this was because it was a handed tournament, which are by far my favorite tournaments.

The first hour produced little pots for me I chipped up to about 6k before losing 4k of it back I forget the hand. I end up doubling up late with AK I believe and add on to give me about 6500 which isn't much at all when u consider that a person can go broke on the last hand before rebuys end, rebuy twice and add on, and have 5k. I wasn't very worried however considering the 3 buck rebuy tournament I won I didn't double once and had that 5k stack going into the 2nd hour.

Ok so it was a few days ago I don't really remember too many pots. The main thing was I was always the preflop aggressor. I prob won about 100 hands with preflop raises its so important to have preflop aggression in 6 handed play. I managed to work my way up to a huge stack 2nd in chips at around 100k with about 150 people left. Unfortunately the number one stack was obviously two spots to my left. However, he was being overly aggressive and I knew I could trap him for a huge pot. That happened when I picked up the 22, a hand that actually was my favorite hand in this tournament lol. I limped and called his raise and the flop cane KQ2 rainbow. YAHTZEEE!!! I decide to just check call the flop. The turn brings a 9 he bets huge I put in a smallish raise and he goes all in. Despite his aggression, I was ready to curse the gods when he flipped up J10 but instead he just had AK and was drawing dead. From there I was in a zone. On three separate occasions, I three bet post flop on complete air one of them being against a guy half my stack I bet and reraised him with K high on a J high board. I was just feeling it and for once people were folding!

So I get up to about 250k when I get moved and wouldn't' u know it I got the big stack again at my table. Things go by until about 27 people are left i have about 9th in chips but am going card dead. Then the biggest hand of the tournament happens we are at 14 people I have like 7th in chips. I raise with JJ and a guy who barely has me covered three bets to 100k we both have about 350k. I had a feeling I was beat but certainly wasn't folding. I push and he snap calls with KK! I yell FUCK! Until the flop comes AJ2!! COME ON! turn and river blank and I double to third in chips. Down to two tables I raise with 33 guy for about 25% of my stack pushes I cal I have him dominated he has 22!! I hold and am chip leader with 11 to go.

I chip down to about 4th in chips with 7 to go. I have the leader and by far most aggressive player at my table he's three betting alot and I try to avoid him. On the final table bubble he raises my bb I have 1010 and three bet he thinks for about 2.1 seconds and puts me all in. I didn't think I had him dominated and didn't' wanna race when I could sit at 3rd in chips with 6 to go so I fold. I kinda regret that fold now given his aggressive play but what can you do.

The final table was sadly fairly anti climatic. With the guy to my left(he went on to win) it was tough to steal blinds he three bet me three times and only once could I look him up. We get to three handed, and I'm the short stack with 500k blinds 25k 50k. He raises and I have AK and insta shove he insta calls with AA! Just my luck. No huge suckout and I get 3rd for 1500. I was upset at first but then realized i shoulda been out in 13th with the JJ hand so I couldn't' complain.

Last night i got 8th in the turbo fiddy. Had 99 vs AJ in a race for the chip lead with 18 to go and he rivered a J. Chipped back up before calling a late position all in with A10 he had AJ gg to me. 8th for 500 first got 5k so alittle disappointed.

On Sunday, I revisit one of my poker demons. Sunday is the msop main event. Last year, I was 3rd in chips with 45 to play when I got in a race with 55 for half my stack against AK. The board bricks out till the river when he spikes a K. I woulda been the chip leader. I end up losing another flip on the turn and get KOed in 29th for 1500 bucks, First got 73k. It still haunts me today. I can try to exercise the demons on Sunday. Wish me luck!

Big Result today

tayke2 On 1:26 AM

I'll prob post details tomorrow. I got 3rd place in the 5 buck wit rebuys 6 handed 10k guaranteed event on full tilt today. 3rd paid out 1500 bucks. I cashed out 500 to pay for July rent. Sweet. Full day of action tomorrow hopefully I can keep it up.

A Long Overdue Win

tayke2 On 12:47 AM

On Monday night I won my first ever heads up multi. I had probably played in about 150 of these things ranging from 2 bucks to 50 bucks and had made it to the final 4 or 8 at least 15 times but I finally broke through and won the 20 buck for 658 just hours after reaching the finals in the 2 buck only to fall just short here's a recap.

Ok tournament got 94 players and I had a first round bye. In the round of 64 I jumped out to an early two to one chip lead but let him back in and actually had to suck out to survive sadly I don't remember the hand.

The round of 32 was a rare occurrence in that my opponent was a no show, even though he had clearly won his first round match to get there. My guess is maybe he had a sudden errand to run? In general, I tend to be content with raising blinds and chipping away if my opponent isn't there, save for a few exceptions. If the player has a disconnect, I will give them 5 minutes to come back, especially if we are in the money. I feel like then, they've earned the right to play it out. However, if it becomes a consistent disconnect, I tend not to be so kind. But no disconnect here, just a plain no show and I'm on to the sweet 16.

The round before the money is always a tense one. I do my best to not tighten u i nthis round, though pulling that bluff is definitely alittle harder. However, I had to do alot of that in the next match, and it was by far the best I've ever played. It was one of those matches where I had to sit on my hands and wait for a big hand as my opponent min raised and continuation bet everytime he had the button. Sadly though, I didn't hit a freakin flop for 10 minutes, so I had to bluff like crazy to simply survive. Finally I hit a couple flops, and had the guy short drawing to 2 outs after the flop and I held. To the elite 8 we go!

Don't remember much about the elite 8. I know I had to battle from behind, and I remember on the big hand I flopped top pair and bet aggressively, and he stuck around with a flush draw. I shoved the turn and he stuck around and he missed so I got to the final 4.

Being that this was a non turbo, the last two matches flew by! After begging to flop a pocket pair set all tournament I finally got it with 22 on a 652 flop. I check and he pot bet I called. River Q made 3 spades on board. He pot bet and I pushed and he insta called I thought for sure I was dead but he flipped 65! And I held and went to the finals.

In the finals I was down early but battled it up to even when I called a raise with 106 suited. The flop was 1096 yahtzee! I check called his bet. The turn was a King and we get it in he shows KQ. No K,Q,J, or 9 and the title mind. River is a 3!!

Ship the 658 and the first great feeling the big breakthrough I needed to get my bankroll rolling again. A very long weekend but very rewarding. Kinda tired haven't played poker in two days and am pretty content. More updates coming.

Two cashes in 3 days...yet so dissapointed.

tayke2 On 12:22 AM

So I cashed in both tournaments at the bike and yet since they were both min cashes I feel empty inside. Here's a full recap of the sunday holdem 120 buy in got 317 27 paid first payout 215 first get 11k.

Ok so for the first hour or so I couldn't get anything going. Felt like a donkey just calling everything preflop and check folding but not much else I could do had playable cards but not great cards. I was knocked down to about 10 big blinds when I doubled up with 99 against AJ. As would become an all too familiar scene, I would lose about half of these chips and get into all in or fold mode. This happened for about 4 hours lol.

First time i had 97 of diamonds in the bb. The flop came 1098 two diamonds. Yahtzee! An early limper bets and I just called. The turn was a 3 and again he bet. I just called, even though I'm pretty sure I could have gotten him to fold to a raise. There was also one other caller on a side note. The river missed all my outs bringing a 10 and the guy bets out 3k. I couldn't beat anything but a bluff, but I call and he flips A10. Pretty sure I could have gotten him to fold with an all in on the turn horribly played by me.

So later on I win another coin flip this time with 99 against AK. And again...I donk it all away. I have 107 in the bb with the flop of 1086 all spades. I check call the flop. Turn is a brick and I lead out and get called by the most aggressive player at the table. River is the A of spades. I check like an idiot he slides out a bet for half my stack and I fold like a little girl. Unless he has a face card spade he's folding another hand I played horribly.

So another hour of waiting and I double again this time with 66 against A8. But more orbits and more folds and I'm short stack again. This time I get it in with AA against A8 and hold and finally have some breathing room. Only to get short stacked AGAIN!

I get moved to another table with what I'm guessing was the big stack on my button's big blind. Great there goes the blind short stack shove on the button! I shove weak in late position once and don't get called. Then after an early limp I push about 12 bb's in there with A4 to try and pick it up. The big stack thinks for a solid 2 minutes and I'm trying to act like stone. HE folds and so does the other guy. After debating whether to call, one guy commented "I didn't see a bead of sweat on his forehead" Good to know I have a decent poker face! So once against mostly playing all in or fold picked up another pot with my now favorite hand 99 utg. Then a huge double up I push with QQ against a big stack raise and he SNAP calls with 33 lol. I hold and finally have a good size stack think 20k with blinds at 200 400. I get moved and get 3 betted immediately on my first hand lame! Couple orbits and same guy catches me bluffing the flop. Uh oh either he has a tell on me or he's a card rack. I pick up a small pot then pick up about 6k when a short stack shoves with QJ and I call with KQ.

So from here I play pretty tite from 6 tables to the final three only really picking up a couple pots with 1010 and K10. Then the money hits and I'm bout an even stack. We redraw tables, and I get moved from that table in about 5 minutes lol. Then the fateful hand. I'm in the bb with about 45k. Blinds are at 1500 3000. The cuttoff position with about 70k raises to 10k. The button puts in a 3 bet of about 22k. I look down at AK! Yahtzee and fuck at the same time lol. My gut tells me that the button raise is really weak. A small raise in position just seemed fishy. But my outer body was writing in pain a big mistake on my part basically eliminating AA or KK unless I was a hollywood superstar lol. I finally decide to shove for 22k more. The cutoff folds and the button goes into the tank. Sweet no snap call! He says I caught him but after doing the math he calls and shows QJ. Man I reallllllly wanted to take it down there. Flop comes a great 994. Turn is an ugly 10. If I can dodge a K Q J or 8 I have 90k and am a top five stack. River...Q of spades. Out in 23rd. Both of us remained totally silent after the hand, I think More stunned then excited or disappointed. The walk to my car was one of the longest and loneliest walks Ive ever had. I was that close to a 4 figure pay day and maybe even a 5 figure one. So sick

All and all it was an incredible weekend. I cashed in what was for me by far the toughest tournament I've ever played in. We will see what the future holds for me, but I think it will be a good one.

On an online note, I played in 4 heads up tournament today. In the morning I was out in the 2nd round of the 10 buck. In the 2 buck, I made it all the way to the finals only to get 2nd for 80 bucks. In the five buck, I lost in the first round. Then in the only non turbo one, I shipppppppped the 20 buck heads it for 658. I'll post a recap tomorrow when I get around to it. Overall on the day: 14-3 on the day. Not bad :)

Ok Full Recap from last nites tournament.

tayke2 On 8:09 PM

If last nite taught me anything, its that I really should play more stud hi lo. Idk wat it is about the game, but I've always had good success in it. Back in the days of my pokerstars freerolls, I only one won of them...a stud hi lo. I've gotten 4th in the 26 bucks stud hilo on tilt, and I cashed in my first live tournament for stud hi lo, a 9th pale finish in a field of 160.

So last nite started with 7k in chips so lots of play. The first 90 minutes of any limit tourney are really boring. I was the chip leader at my table after 90 minutes with 8600 lol. I think the first elimination occured 2 hours in and the first table was broken like 3 and a half hours in. No real action until I got moved to my second table. With the levels at 300 600 I had about 8k. The bring in completed for 600 and a guy raised to 1200 with a K showing. I had an A showing and an A in the hole, so I reraised and the K capped it. Two others came along. At this point, its hard to believe he has Kings rolled up, but its also hard to believe he'd 4 bet with anything else. On 4th, I immediately catch two pair with a 6, and say if he's got me he's got me. After constant bets by everyone involved leading the 6th street, we get it all in in a massssssive pot. I have 4k behind. I show two pair aces and sixes. One guy shows two pair queens and eights and a straight draw. The K guy shows kings and sevens( not sure what he thought I had) and the last guy shows a low draw with a pair of fours. On the river I don't improve. Kings and sevens doesn't improve, the low draw gets two small pair, and queens and nines draws a useless third pair on the river. I ship a 25k pot to take a big chip lead!!!!

On the very next hand, I'm in with 4 others on 6th street with a pair of 8's, a low draw, and a flush draw. On 7th, I pick up a 7 for a terrible 8765A low. One guy has been betting the whole way and bets the river. I call and the other two as well, and I show my low. Somehow, its good despite both others showing three low cards. The aggressor shows Jacks and 7's, and praises my call with that low. I didn't think it was that great more so just pot committed. I later lose a big pot in omaha with AA to a guy who hits runner runner flush, knocking me down to 13k.

I get moved, and commit an inexplicable blunder at the next table. Holding 2357 double suited, I see a flop of A58....or so I thought. In actuality it was A59! I call the whole way thinking I have the nut low, when I actually have a measly pair of 5's at the end. I flip it up, and didn't realize I had nothin till the pot gets shipped elsewhere. I pride myself on not going on tilt, but this was almost too much to overcome. I make a couple loose calls, and am down to 8k with the limits at 600 1200 in stud hi lo.

I make a comeback though with a sick call in stud hi lo. I call a raise with QJ4 all diamonds. The raiser had an A in late position, so I figured he could easily have air just playing position. I call a bet on 4th, and pair my Q on 5th. He checks showing AKJ. At this point, I'm very confident my Queens are goo, but I just check. 6th brings a pair of aces for him, but gives me a 4 for two pair. He bets and I call. The river doesn't improve me, and he bets out again. Here's the tough decision. My board is showing a low or low draw, with three low cards out there. I figure with any pair in the hole, he's betting 5th street. So I figure he's stuck on aces, and just hope he didn't catch on 7th. I call, and ask him if he has two pair. He says no, and I flip Queens and 4's. He looks for about 20 seconds at the board and mucks and I scoop to get to 13k. The guy to my right, who must have thought I was an idiot when I showed my "low" in omaha, shook my hand and said hell of a call.

I then get moved with 10k and blinds at 1k 2k in Omaha. For the first time all tournament long, I actually hit a streak in omaha. I river a straight to get to 15k, then scooped a big pot with the nut straight and the nut low. Couple more pots, and I'm up to 30k and the lead at my table. I get moved again, and we are down to two tables.

I'd like to take a break and say that I really feel for dealers sometimes. They have to deal with drunken assholes, or just plain assholes, all the time who are just waiting for them to make a mistake to pounce and say how stupid they are. This old guy at my table berated the dealer when she messed up dividing the side pot and main pot during an all in. IT was really disheartening and disrespectful and I really felt for her. On the other hand, some dealers have it coming. With 17 left, the dealer called a guy on saying the f bomb after losing a big pot that knocked him down to 6k with levels at 1k 2k. I didn't hear it nor did anyone else, but he was assessed a one round penalty, and as a result was blinded out. Later, he accused a guy of throwing cards at him when he folded. This guy was the best player at the able and a regular, and while I would have liked to see him out of the tournament, it was unfair and I vouched for him. He ended up being pretty nice and we chatted back and forth the rest of the tournament.

Back to the poker I had about 45k when things went south, or dead is the right term. Card dead to be exact from 17 people to 11 I was whittled down to 20k with bets at 3k 6k. I hung on long enough to make it to 9 people, where we all agreed to take 350 out of first and give it to 9th, which is where I would end up after losing to a full house in omaha.

With first getting 4400 I was obviously disappointed, but I had alot of fun and for the most part avoided any sick beats, so I couldn't blame bad luck this time. Another tournament tomorrow will post a full report when I can. Thanks for reading guys.

Ship a bracelet! And it breaks me een on the day lol!

tayke2 On 6:32 PM

There are updates on my twitter at tayke2 but I won the freeroll I got entry to because of the fantasy poker on FTP. Got 150 for it. Had a huge chip lead from 40 to the final table then had 3 HUGE suckouts. First AQ beats AK then A9 beats AQ then 66 beats KK. I'm awesome lol. But because of my other results I basically broke even on the day. Tomorrow I'm playing the 120 holdem at the bike.

Poker Filled Weekend!

tayke2 On 2:56 PM

Ok so the gf is out of town for the week so I don't have much to do so why not take a poker weekend! Tonite I'm playing in a 170 buy in half stud hi lo half omaha hi lo. I'm excited because I've played each game one time in live played and did well in both. In stud I got 9th in a 120 tournament and in the omaha hi lo I won 100 bucks in about 20 minutes. Tomorrow I'm playing the 15 buck msop event with a 40k guarantee. Should be fun. Then Sunday I'm playing a 120 nl holdem at 4. Will post results for all wish me luck!

Pretty sick streak and some WSOP Announcements.

tayke2 On 11:08 AM

Ok so recently I've had a pretty sick run on the 5 buck turbo multis on full tilt. A few nights ago I got 2nd in a 6 handed 5 buck turbo that got I think around 88 people for 91 bucks. The next morning I got 2nd in another 5 buck turbo this one had about 175 people and paid out 135. And then yesterday, I played an afternoon 5 buck turbo that got around 235 people, and got 5th for 105 bucks. Today I'm trying to make it 4 in a row, and off to a decent start currently 33rd with 204 left. Will post results later.

In the WSOP, after a sick sweat, platt and I are still even. Both Bonomo and Raymer made the final table, negating the 50 buck final table bonus we get, and bonomo got 5th, meaning that platt was freerolling for 100 bucks! But raymer got knocked out in 3rd. The 10k stud championship event starts today, and we got 3 more last longers running. We got Ted Forrest vs Daniel Negraneu, Cyndy Violette vs Vanessa Russo, and Patrik Antonious vs Erik Siedel. In each bet, I have the first person mentioned. I'll post updates on that as well.

Lastly, a huge congrats goes out to Thang Luu. Luu got 2nd in the 1500 buck omaha hi lo even 2 years ago. Last year, he came back and shipped that event for his first gold bracelet. Then, in an unprecedented accomplishment, Luu came back and did it all over again, shipping the same tournament for the 2nd year in row, this time beating the largest field in omaha hi lo history. Big congrats sir well done!
