You have to be a sick, sick human to want to play poker

So I played in the 216 HA ftops today, and I think it was probably the craziest big tournament I had ever played in. It was a roller coaster that lasted just under 4 hours and ended with an elimination 3 spots b4 the money. So here is a full recap with several hands that I vividly remember.

So we started with 5k in chips lot of play to be had. I was up to bout 5.7k after first holdem level forgot the hand. Then in omaha i got up to 6.9k after I turned a flush and a guy bluffed 2k into me. Then the first of many sick hands occurred. Blinds at 15/30 I call a raise out of the small blind with QQJ2. Flop comes 753 two clubs checks around. Turn J I bet 150 bout half the pot one caller. River Q flush misses. I bet 400 and the guy thinks for a few seconds and bets pot bout 1300 more. So at this point the only hand that beats me is 64 and it was pretty obvious he had it based on how he played it but I payed him off. He shows A647 and I'm back down to 5.2k.

As will be a common theme, I gain most my money back in holdem, then the second session of omaha occurs. With bout 7k and blinds at 25 50 I limp with 1010Q4 double suited. Flop comes 1099 yahtzee! We both check the flop. Turn is a 8 makes a flush draw on board and he bets 300 I raise to 900 and he calls. River K and we get it all in he shows...99. Quads beats my full house and I'm down to 4k.

So more of the same chip up in holdem then in the next session this occurs. I'm at about 6k with QQJ5 when the flop comes 9Q9. Sound familiar!!! WE check the flop and after I raise the turn he calls me to the river. The river comes and we get it all in he shows......just one 9! I double to bout 13k. Form there I stay in neutral never going under 10k or over 15k for bout 90 minutes. During this time, I start talking to an FTOPS champ at my table, losebigpots. Turned out he's a former champ of this very event. I squeezed on him once with K10 he claims he folded AK not sure bout that. Then when he raised on the button I reraised out of the BB wit A8 and he folded again. Then in omaha, on a board of J65, I had three pair in my hand and raised his near pot bet he folded said he had J5 lame. So 3 pots I took off him lol. He was a nice guy hope to play with him again.

So I chip my way up to bout 20k. Blinds are now all the way up to 500 1k. I have 10 10 and the utg raises pot 3.5k he has bout 10k half of me. I reraise to 10k he shoves and shows AQ. The board bricks out J high and I'm up to 30k. After stealing blinds one of my proudest moments in poker occurs. I raise in late position with 22 to 2.8k. Guy on button reraises fairly small to 6.7k. I put him on a pretty big hand, 99 or AK at the worst probably JJ-KK. But I call for the cheap prize knowing a 2 comes and I'm golden. The flop comes A108 rainbow. Ugh. I check with 24k behind. He has 32k, and bets 6999, into a pot of 15k. This bet screamed weakness to me. I could almost guarantee he had JJ-KK. With AA or 1010 he likely checks. With AK he likely bets pot or just short of it to protect. The only thing I thought was a high pair feeler bet. So I think for bout 10 seconds, and shove all in! He thinks for a few seconds and folds! I gladly show my 22 and am up to 46k.

I was on top of the world after this hand and thought I could beat anyone. So I had chipped down to bout 32k or so. had a hand where I raised with AK and bet twice to bluff then shut it down on the river. Then I picked up KK twice in 5 hands both raise and take it preflop. Ugh woulda loved some action. So I have bout 38k when this hand comes up. Its folded around to the sb he limps I check with J10 blinds are at 800 1600. Flop comes 489 two clubs. He min bets I call. turn is a 10 of clubs. Another min bet and call. I almost raised but decided to c if I could make my str8 on the river. River is a 9 and he insta pot bets 9600. Woah time to think. So I thought there was a good chance he could have a J and have missed, or maybe a hand like K8 with the K of clubs. The way he bet screamed draw to me the whole way. I was close to folding but ultimately called. He shows 98. Bad read on my part well played by him. This knocked me down to 22k or about 14 big blinds. Lame.

So I get chipped down to about 14k with blinds at 1k2k. Mostly because on two straight bb's, I was minraised with one caller so my odds were good but coulnd't connect. At this point, there were 3 from the money, so I could either insta fold everything and limp into the money with about 2 big blinds left, or I could go wit ha hand and try to double up. The day I do the first option, I need to stop playing poker. With an utg raise to 7k I push with 10QQK double suited. He calls and shows AA76. The flop comes J75 one heart ugh. Turn is the best card possible short of a Q the 9 of hearts. I have a K,Q,10,8, or heart for outs. River: A of diamonds. Out 111th.

I'm still really bummed about this tourney. Its really frustrating because I feel like the pots I won I REALLY had to earn. Where as the pots I lost were set in stone and no skill was involved. But hey what can you do. Probably gonna run mostly sit n gos for a while my schedule is gonna start sucking real soon.
