Its that time of week again. For anyone who needs any help with their picks, I provide my 2 cents here. I had my "worst" week of the year last week going 11-4, putting me at 32-9 on the season. For the 3 rd straight week, all of my upset picks came through. The Panthers beat the Falcons and the Pack beat the Boys. Ok so here we go.
1. Miami at Carolina- This is a toss up here. Both are pretty good football teams with mediocre records. However, two things tip the scales to Carolina imo. 1. The recent placing of Ronnie Brown on the IR. He was arguably the MVP of their team the wildcat now will be up to Pat White and I think without Brown, Ricky gets contained. and 2. Carolina is at home. The Panthers win a close one here 24-20.
2. Washington at Dallas- The Skins looked very impressive last week, and the Boys looked god awful. However, Dallas is a far superior team, and they will realize that in the tough NFC East, you have to get these easy wins, especially against this weak divisional team. The boys are back in town and win by a couple TD's 31-17.
3. Cleveland at Detroit- Seriously? These two have to play each other? The fact that Cleveland has won a game this year baffles me. They might have the worst offense every created. Ever. The Lions, on the other hand, showed promise last week hanging tough with the Vikes. And at home, this is a synch. Lions win a struggle 13-3.
4. San Francisco at Green Bay- The Pack bounced back in a big way last week with a big win over the Boys. It seems like teams are figuring out that if you can contain Frank Gore and Vernon Davis, you can shut this team down. The Pack will do that, and win this one 27-14.
5. Kansas City at Pittsburgh- This should be a pretty boring game. The Chiefs lost their top offensive weapon in Dwayne Bowe to a drug suspension, and against the Pitt D, a shut out is possible. However the absence of Polamulu means that the Chiefs will get a moral victory and find the endzone but thats about it. Pitt rolls 24-7.
6. Seattle at Minnesota- Not much to say here. A superbowl contender vs a bottom feeder. Vikes roll big time 31-14.
7. Atlanta at New York Giants- Wow a big toss up here. Two teams that started off hot and have cooled down recently. I'm going with the Giants here cause they are at home and are coming off a bye week and have had plenty of time to right the ship and get focused. G-men get back on track and win 27-17.
8. New Orleans at Tampa Bay- This game will be closer then people think. The saints proved last week they can look less then impressive against bad teams, and the bucs are a new team with Josh Freeman at the helm. I think this one stays close but the Saints pull away in the 4th and win 28-17.
9. Buffalo at Jacksonville- Had Dick Jauron been allowed to stay on for the rest of the year, I woulda gone with the Bills here in a "lets win one for coach game!" But as it is right now, this is a bad team that is only worse by all their injuries. Maurice Jones Drew runs all over them and the Jags win big 34-14.
10. Indy at Baltimore- Ugh I wanna pull the trigger here and go with an upset so bad! But despite the shutout last week, the Ravens D isn't what it used to be. And the Colts are firing on all cylinders. Colts win this one 28-13.
11. Arizona at St Louis- The Cards will win this because they want to turn it into a shootout and the Rams do not have the weapons for that kind of a game. Card take another divisional win with a 27-10 win.
12. San Diego at Denver- By record, I'm going with the upset here. But I don't know many people outside of Denver who really think the Broncos will win here. They need to figure out whats wrong before they pull one of the biggest choke jobs in NFL history in missing the playoffs after starting 6-0. Chargers win this one 27-21.
13. Cincy at Oakland- A mismatch here on all levels. The raiders are terrible and the Bengals are more then for real after sweeping the super bowl champs. The one bright spot for the raiders is possibly no Cedric Benson, and the strength of their D is passing. But still not much of a shot here Bengals win 20-7.
14. New York Jets at New England- These are two very different teams then the ones that met in New Jersey when the Jets pulled out a win earlier this year. Sanchez thought he was invincible back then, when that has been proven wrong time and time again recently. And the Pats, despite the call at the end of the Colts game, are clicking on all cylinders on Offense. I think Belichick runs up the score to make a point against Rex Ryan. Pats win big 38-17.
15. Philly at Chicago- Man I have no upsets this week. I want to gamble here, but the Bears Offense is so bad they will make Philly's D look good, which is saying alot considering how easily the Chargers moved the bal for 3 qtrs against them last week. Eagles win here and stay in the playoff hunt 27-13.
16. Houston at Tennessee- For the first time since I started my picks, I'm picking against the Titans. Fact is, they've played 3 sub par teams. The Texans are no longer a sub par team. And Matt Schuab is licking his chops after seeing film of the Pats putting up 49 on the Titans in one half a few weeks ago. Texans win a high scoring game 42-30.
Those are my picks. What do you guys think? I couldn't find any upsets really. Could you? Also 6th place right now out of 17 in the sit n go comp but we got a long way to go so I like my chances. Thanks for reading guys.
